About the project:

The project “FactArt: Samfunnet ser” is leaded by School of Arts, Design, and Media and School of Health Sciences at Kristiania University College.

Our partners are the University of Konstanz (Germany) and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Brazil).

The project is funded by Kristiania.

What is the aim of the research project?

  • To provide treatment that can mitigate trauma among refugees.
  • To collect narratives from Ukrainian refugees to communicate to the Norwegian Society regarding their experiences. These narratives will be mediated through an artistic intervention - a theater play.

*The individual narratives will be anonymized.

What does participating mean?

As a participant your health will first be mapped out through different questionnaires. If you fulfil the criteria for PTSD, you will receive individual Narrative ExposureTherapy (NET). With your consent, the individual narratives created through the NET will be used anonymously to build a script that will be used to create a theater play. Later, you will also get the opportunity to participate in NetFact (group intervention).

What is narrative exposure therapy (NET)?

Net is a psychotherapy intervention based upon  storytelling and arts, where you and your therapist will work through your life focusing on the traumatic events you have experienced. NET has been found to be a helpful treatment for people suffering with PTSD.
