Research infrastructure and data storage

Researchers, other employees and students at Kristiania University College and Kristiania Professional College have access to the “Nettskjema” questionnaire tool for the collection of data in connection with e.g. research projects, teaching or assignments. 

Nettskjema is provided by the University of Oslo (UiO) and is a secure solution for the collection of both small and large volumes of data. The SIKT Data Protection Officer and the Regional Ethics Committees for Health Research (REC) recognise Nettskjema. 

Nettskjema is the only permitted questionnaire tool at Kristiania University College and Kristiania Professional College when collecting personal data. 

When collecting data that is not personal data, other programs (survey tools) such as Microsoft Forms, SurveyMonkey, Questback, Qualtrics and others may be used. 

The following advantages apply to Nettskjema: 

• The use of Nettskjema is free for all users, employees and students with a FEIDE login 
• No license is required 
• Data collection can be conducted using a laptop, tablet or smartphone 
• Bokmål, Nynorsk or English language setting 
• Free support from UiO’s support centre via telephone and e-mail.

Click “Log in to Nettskjema” > select Feide > select Kristiania University College as the affiliation (initial login) > enter your Feide username and password.  If you are still unsure, a more detailed description can be found here:

Who can respond to the questionnaires created in Nettskjema? 

Respondents can include: 

• People logged in using Feide 
• Anyone with a link to the survey (fully opened) 
• Invitees with an e-mail address

Responding from mobile devices

Questionnaires in Nettskjema can be responded to using a mobile phone or tablet. Nettskjema also allows for the submission of responses using mobile apps developed at UiO.

Nettskjema with dictation and image solutions

Audio recordings of conversations and the storage of images involve the registering and storage of personal data. Nettskjema has two unique apps that you can download on your smartphone or tablet: Nettskjema-Diktafon for the recording of audio and Nettskjema-Bilde for photography. The apps can be downloaded from Google Play and the App Store. The dictation app will send the audio files to the Nettskjema questionnaire you have created for your interview(s) or image recordings. This replaces the need for tape recorders and dictaphones or cameras.  The collection and storage of interviews containing personal data and images of people for research purposes may not be performed using your own smartphone unless you are using the app. The difference is that the respective apps ensure that audio recordings and images are encrypted on your smartphone and that you cannot play audio recordings or view images directly from the phone. You must log in to the Nettskjema results to do so.

Sensitive personal data or data that requires special protection 

In the event that you will collect sensitive personal data (referred to special categories of personal data in the act) in a project, you will need to use the Services for Sensitive Data (TSD), which are integrated with Nettskjema. 

Sensitive personal information is: 

• information about racial or ethnic origin 
• information about political opinions 
• information about religious beliefs 
• information about philosophical beliefs 
• information about trade union membership 
• genetic information 
• biometric information for the purpose of unambiguously identifying anyone 
• health information 
• information about sexual relationships 
• information about sexual orientation 

 

TSD is a special service that costs money. Information about prices and conditions can be found here. If you are planning to use TSD, you must notify the Department of Research Administration and Internationalisation via forskadm@kristiania.no. Questions regarding what can be considered sensitive personal data should be raised with the Data Protection Officer for Research, Taisiia Demina (Taisiia.Demina@kristiania.no).
