We are changing our VPN client:

We are going to be changing our VPN client from Aruba VIA to GlobalProtect from Palo Alto. We recommend that you follow the instructions below to install the new VPN client.

From now on, you must use your personal login to connect to the VPN, unlike before when it was a shared account. You use the same username and password as for Feide. If you don’t remember your password, you can change it here. If you don’t have a Feide account, please contact us here.

Install GlobalProtect on Windows

This tutorial is based on Windows 10. Other editions of Windows may look different, but should behave in the same way. We recommend making sure that your system is always up to date with the latest version of Windows as far as possible.

Follow the instructions carefully to avoid mistakes.

NOTE! If you were previously a student at Westerdals Oslo ACT and already have GlobalProtect installed, we recommend you uninstall it first before following this tutorial.

To log in, use your Feide user as shown here.

  1. Go to https://vpnstudent.kristiania.no and log in with “[username]@egms.no” and your password.
  2. Download the GlobalProtect agent for “Windows 64-bit” and run it when it’s ready.
    • If you receive an error message when attempting to run the installation telling you that it cannot be installed on a 32-bit OS, then download and run the agent for “Windows 32 bit” instead.
  3. Go through the installation process. You don’t need to change anything. Click “Yes” when Windows asks if you want to allow the app to make changes to your computer. Close the installation when it is finished.
  4. You should see a small window saying “Welcome to GlobalProtect”. In the text field, enter “vpnstudent.kristiania.no”. Then click “Connect”.
  5. Another window will open and ask you to log in. For username and password, enter “[username]@egms.no” and your password, and click “Sign In”.
    1. If you see “Authentication Failed”, double check that you have entered the correct username with “@egms.no” after it and re-enter your password.
    2. If you still get an error message, check that you’re using the correct password. Go to https://brukeradm.kristiania.no and try logging in with your username and password. If it doesn’t work there, you should use the forgot password service to set a new password. Then log in to GlobalProtect.
  6. Click the small “roof” to the right of the Taskbar to see apps that are running in the background. You will see a small globe: this is GlobalProtect.
  7. Click on the GlobalProtect globe to open the window to connect to and disconnect from the VPN. If the globe is in colour and has a small shield on it, you are connected to the VPN. If the globe is grey, you are disconnected.
